Frequently asked questions
How much does massage cost at Tree of Life Centre?
Massage starts from £65 for 60 minutes and £92 for 90 minutes. Prices vary slightly between therapists — please check each practitioner's profile for their fees.
What types of massage do you offer in Brighton & Hove?
Our therapists offer deep tissue, Swedish, sports, clinical/therapeutic, pregnancy and postnatal, fertility, hot stone, trigger point, myofascial release, digestive/abdominal, Indian head, Thai yoga and aromatherapy massage, as well as scar work and post-surgery massage. Several therapists also combine massage with Reiki or Cranio-Sacral Therapy.
Which type of massage is right for me?
It depends on what you'd like from your treatment. For muscular tension, injury or ongoing pain, deep tissue, sports or clinical massage is often a good choice. For deep relaxation, try Swedish, hot stone or aromatherapy. We also have therapists who specialise in pregnancy, postnatal, digestive and post-surgery support. Every session begins with a consultation so your therapist understands your needs, and you're always welcome to get in touch for guidance before booking.
Can massage help with back pain?
Many people find massage helpful for both short-term and long-standing back pain. Deep tissue, therapeutic and sports massage can help ease tension, improve circulation and support freer movement, and your therapist will tailor the treatment to you. If your pain is severe or unexplained, we'd recommend checking in with your GP first.
Is massage safe during pregnancy?
Yes. With a therapist trained in pregnancy massage, it's a safe and nurturing treatment, usually offered from the second trimester onwards. It can help ease lower back and pelvic discomfort, swollen ankles, tiredness and general tension, with adapted positions to keep you and your baby comfortable. Please let us know you're pregnant when booking so we can match you with the right therapist.
What is deep tissue massage?
Deep tissue massage uses slower, firmer strokes and sustained pressure to reach deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue, helping to release chronic tension, knots and restricted movement. It's ideal for ongoing tightness, postural issues or sports-related tension. It can feel more intense than Swedish massage but shouldn't be painful. Just let your therapist know if you'd like more or less pressure.
What is Thai yoga massage?
Thai yoga massage is a traditional, fully clothed treatment usually given on a floor mat. The therapist uses their hands, feet, elbows and knees to apply acupressure along the body's energy lines, combined with assisted yoga stretches and compression. It's deeply relaxing, helps improve flexibility and leaves you feeling re-energised. At Tree of Life Centre, Thai yoga massage is offered by Jo, Nicola and Yana, and Gemma offers Table Thai massage on the treatment couch.
How often should I have a massage?
It depends on your goals. For relaxation and stress relief, many people enjoy a monthly session. For ongoing tension, injury recovery or a specific concern, weekly or fortnightly sessions can work well at first, spacing out as things improve. Your therapist will be happy to advise at your first appointment.
Can I get a massage at home in Brighton & Hove?
Yes. Victoria offers massage in the comfort of your own home across Brighton & Hove. It's ideal if you prefer your own space, have mobility needs or simply find it more convenient. Get in touch or visit Victoria's profile for details and availability.
Do you offer massage gift vouchers?
Yes. Gift vouchers are available for massage and all our treatments, and make a lovely gift for any occasion. Call 01273 220159 or email info@tolcentre.com for details.
What should I wear for a massage?
