Scaravelli Yoga at the Tree of Life Centre
A soft, unforced approach to yoga that works with gravity, breath and the natural wave of the spine.
Scaravelli-inspired yoga offers a refreshingly different way to practise. Rather than pushing into shapes or striving for a particular outcome, you learn to soften, let the ground support you and allow movement to arise naturally through the breath and spine. This gentle, intuitive approach can help ease tension and free the spine without strain, creating a practice that feels spacious, intelligent and deeply restorative.
Classes are suitable for everyone, from complete beginners to experienced yogis who are looking for a quieter, more mindful approach to movement. Clare Parr teaches every Monday morning, with classes at 9:30–10:30 and 10:45–11:45am. Drop in for £11 per session, or £60 for a 6-week course.
What is Scaravelli Yoga?
Scaravelli-inspired yoga grew from the teaching of Vanda Scaravelli, who developed a way of practising based on three simple elements: gravity, breath and the spine. Instead of forcing the body into postures, students learn to release down into the ground so that the spine can lengthen and unwind instinctively and with ease.
Classes are slow, exploratory and relaxed. Familiar yoga postures are approached with curiosity, and the emphasis is on quality of movement and inner sensation, rather than achieving a particular shape or duration of a posture.

Scaravelli Yoga FAQs
What is the difference between Scaravelli and other yoga styles?
Scaravelli-inspired yoga prioritises release over effort, working with gravity and breath so the spine can move freely, rather than holding or pushing into postures.
Is Scaravelli yoga good for back pain?
Many people with back stiffness find its gentle, spine-focused approach helpful. If you have a specific injury or condition, please let Clare know before class – and check with your healthcare practitioner if unsure.
Which Monday class should I choose?
Both classes follow the same approach; just pick the time that suits you best.
Do I need my own mat?
